A national level seminar was organized on the topic: EMERGING TRENDS IN LITERATURE IN SOCIO-POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC CONTEXT on February 13, 2016.Nearly 50 papers were presented in all the three languages, Punjabi, English and Hindi. Sh. Harish Khare, Editor-in-chief of The Tribune was the chief guest. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Jaspal Kaur Kaang from Panjab University Chandigarh. Sh. Parminder Sodhi, Japan based writer and thinker was the chief speaker. Dr. Khare was of the opinion that writers and litterateurs have a great responsibility towards society. They should question the authorities about the deterioration of certain systems. It is the responsibility of the teachers to spread awareness among the students and enable them to interrogate the government officials for the wrong practices prevalent at present. Intolerance is a matter of concern for all.

The technical session in Punjabi was chaired by Dr. Jaspal Kaur Kaang, Chairperson Gurunanak Sikh Studies, Panjab University Chandigarh. She was of the opinion that all the 22 papers presented in the seminar were research oriented and knowledgeable. She said that Globalization has given us a lot but there is a hidden agenda of the capitalists because they exploit the human energy for their advantage. The speakers have discussed the harmful effects of globalization on our social, economic and political lives.

In the technical session in Hindi 24 papers were presented. Dr. Ashok Kumar, from Panjab University, Dr. Sushma Paul from Hindu College Muradabad( U P), Dr. Rizvi from Jamia Islamia University, Delhi and Dr. Rakesh Kumar from Govt. College Ludhiana were among the key speakers.

In the technical session nine papers were presented. The session was chaired by Dr. Sukhjinder Singh from Evening College Panjab University chaired the session. Prof. Anshleen Tiwana from Chandigarh University and Prof. Rustam Devi from the host college were among the key speakers.

The seminar attracted the academicians from all over India. All the speakers were enthusiastic to present their papers. The Principal, Dr. Jaspal Singh thanked all the speakers and other guests. Sh. Balbir Singh Rajewal, president of the college appealed to the litterateurs to write about the growing menace of drug addiction among the youth and the deteriorating condition of the farmers and awaken the officials and the society to control this menace.
